Pet Ultrasound

We are pleased to have a pet ultrasound at Hanover Animal Hospital. A quick and painless approach to seeing inside your pet is through ultrasound.

Pet Ultrasound

The preparation for an ultrasound is simple, but because pets must remain motionless, light restraints and sedatives may occasionally be required. Some shaving of the chest or abdomen may be necessary, depending on the area of the body that has to be seen by the ultrasound.

A conductive gel will be put to the skin’s surface, just like it would be for a human ultrasound, and a probe would be gradually moved across the area. For pets, the treatment is usually relaxing because it causes no pain. The entire process lasts between 30 and 45 minutes, and frequently, animals nod out.
